- Severe pain in your gums/jaw
- Tooth abscess
- Severe bleeding from the mouth
How to handle a dental emergency
The most important thing to do during any emergency is to remain calm, however in the case of a dental emergency there are a few more things you can do to help make your treatment more successful.
In the case of total tooth loss, we encourage patients to ALWAYS pick the tooth up by the crown, avoiding touching the root of the tooth as much as possible. We also recommend rinsing the tooth in milk, before placing it back into its socket (if possible) or storing in a container filled with milk on your way to our Melbourne CBD dental office.
For chips, breakages or toothaches we recommend staying clear of extremely hot or cold food and drinks as the area may be sensitive.
If you are suffering from a tooth abscess, make sure to rinse your mouth with a warm-salty solution multiple times before you come in for your appointment.
